We were looking for somewhere special to stay.....Cothelstone Manor couldn't have been a more beautiful and relaxing setting. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome, looked after, and in the most wonderful setting. Thank you for making this a really special weekend and one filled with lovely memories. We will be back....soon !

Delightful one-nights stay- aside from the gorgeous decor, the gracious hosts, there is also the most exquisite breakfast on offer- including the best scrambled eggs I've ever had in Britain !
Melody & Ian

Just a great big thank you for the wonderful hospitality you afforded Locking Villagers on our visit.
You got it absolutely right with a different kind of talk and good food attractively served up.
Nothing was too much trouble and that is a refreshing change in this modern day society.
My feed back from the day was extremely good --everything positive.
We will be returning, that is if you will have us!
Brian Ashton, Locking Villagers

On behalf of South Dorset National Trust, I would like to thank you for your wonderful hospitality in your lovely home, which you gave us last Thursday.

Everyone enjoyed the visit and said so during the return journey to Dorchester. Thank you again.
Jim Wilkinson, South Dorset National Trust

The Tour was fantastic, the food and tea welcoming and your hospitality the best.
Evaline Oliver, Woolavington WI

What an absolutely splendid time you gave us - thank you so much for all your kindness and thoughtfulness.

You are wonderful hosts, made us all feel relaxed at your home and really involved us in your house and garden and the church.
The lunch was superb. Many, many thanks.

Cothelstone Manor is a Grade II* Listed Historic House situated at the foot of the Quantock hills and close to Exmoor, Taunton and the M5. It dates from the early 1600's, although there has been a settlement at Cothelstone since Saxon times.

The Quantock Hills were the first area in England to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and are renowned for their dramatic scenery and magnificent herd of Red Deer.

Our private Group Tours offer an opportunity to learn about the history of the Manor and the Stawell's, who lived here from 1066 until 1792, and the role they played supporting the Royalist cause in the English Civil War.

The Tours also allow Groups to see the important Grade 1 Listed Gatehouse, built in the early 1500's, the Grade II* Listed Gazebo, built for the wedding of Sir John Stawell in 1619, and the delightful Church of St Thomas within the grounds and afterwards enjoy tea relaxing in the galleried hall, drawing room and garden.

We also welcome guests for bed and breakfast at the Manor. Relax and unwind in this beautiful family home and enjoy the stunning countryside around our Historic House.

There are many things to do and places to visit, including Coleridge Cottage, Dunster Castle and Hestercombe Gardens and for those with sporting interests Somerset County Cricket Ground and Taunton Racecourse are close by.

Guests can also visit Exmoor, Tarr Steps, the Doone Valley and the wild coastlines of West Somerset and North Devon.

" Thank you and your wife so much for making our group from the Wylye Valley so very welcome in your amazing home. We where all fascinated by your talk about the history of Cothelstone Manor and full of admiration for all the work and love you are putting into the Manor to keep it alive for many more generations to enjoy. We all felt most privileged to be in your private house and you both made us feel very much at home. Tea was delicious, especially the egg sandwiches" !
